PHILGUARANTEE is FOI Champion Awardee for advancing public information access

The Freedom of Information Program Management Office (FOI-PMO), under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), recognized the Philippine Guarantee Corporation (PHILGUARANTEE) as an FOI Champion during the 2024 FOI Awards Ceremony last Monday, November 25th, in Pasay City. The FOI program empowers Filipinos to access government information, fostering open dialogue and good governance.

PHILGUARANTEE Alternate Board Member and DTI Assistant Secretary Kristian Ablan and President and CEO Alberto E. Pascual led the PHILGUARANTEE officials in accepting the FOI Award from PCO Undersecretaries Karen Maralit and Jose Ma. Villarama. It will be the Corporation’s second FOI award in two years, the first being the Rising Star Award given in 2022.

As an integral part of its efforts to build trust, the Philippine Guarantee Corporation (PHILGUARANTEE) has helped promote a culture of openness, where the rights of citizens to access relevant government data are prioritized. This commitment was officially recognized when PHILGUARANTEE was honored as an “FOI Champion” at the awarding ceremony. This marks the second time in two years that PHILGUARANTEE has received such honor, following its recognition as an FOI Rising Star Award recipient in 2022.

The recognition also highlights the progress made in implementing the FOI program, which was launched to enhance public participation and dispel distrust in government. This year’s recognition serves as a reminder of the pivotal role that public service institutions play in making information more accessible and enabling citizens to hold the government accountable.
